Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing

(12 September 1956 – 1 April 2003)


Cheung is one of Hong Kong's most popular male singers and actors of the mid-1980s, and the first signer who come out as gay in Hong Kong. He was one of the pioneers that shaped the identity of Cantopop during the 1980s and also well known by his flamboyant appearance. During his career he released over 40 music albums and acted in 56 films from 1977 until his death. In 2010, he was selected by CNN as one of the "25 Greatest Asian Actors in History".
